UCLA GAP Team presents Identity Broker Plan
A UCLA Anderson School GAP Team held 215 interviews with analysts, experts, competitors, potential partners and clients and recommended that Identity Broker (IdB) be sold in the US through a Regional SI channel. The team defined IdB as a “middleware software solution that enhances efficiency and creates flexibility in building connections between systems, translates data between disparate systems, and allows various systems to communicate and share information." They found that key benefits are "its repeatable structure, which significantly reduces the amount of time and work required to build or update interconnectivity within an IAM solution”, and “increase in efficiency by ensuring that the flow of information is managed by a single overriding source of identity information." IdB “essentially helps companies achieve user controls over technology enterprises and reach compliance with stringent governmental regulations surrounding IT security and access controls in a faster way”

FIM Event Broker v3.0.1 released to market
UNIFY Solutions has released the first maintenance release of FIM Event Broker today. Version 3.0.1 has fixed a number of minor issues, which can be reviewed at the Release Notes.

UNIFY Appoints National Sales Manager
UNIFY Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, Mark Goodall, today announced the appointment of Peter Williams as National Sales Manager. Before joining UNIFY, Peter worked for Microsoft Australia for 11 years in a variety of roles including Enterprise Alliance Manager, Specialist Sales Manager, and Enterprise Strategy Consultant. Prior to that Peter worked for 16 years in the UK, working with Getronics a global SI and the Halifax Group the largest mortgage lender in the UK.
Peter will focus on UNIFY’s business in NSW, Victoria and Adelaide and joint sales with key partners. UNIFY is pleased to engage an executive of Peter’s experience to manage our customer portfolio, develop our alliances with key partners and to build strong teams. Peter brings a broad perspective to the business having worked for an SI, a customer and a vendor. Identity Management for Office365 and other Appointments
UNIFY Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, Mark Goodall, today announced a number of new appointments within and to the company. Carol Wapshere (Microsoft MVP) has joined from LANexpert in Switzerland where she has recently specialized in identity management for Office365. Mark Southwell (MCTS, MCSA, and MCITP-Enterprise Administrator) has joined The FIM Team following extensive whole of government experience with Active Directory, ILM/FIM, ADLDS and PKI. Shane Day has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer and now is responsible for both Product Delivery and Professional Services. Patrick Johannessen and Adam Van Vliet have been promoted to Product Team leadership positions.

UNIFY selected on Commonwealth Government Panel for its IAM services
UNIFY Solutions’ Chief Executive Officer, Mark Goodall, today announced that UNIFY has been selected on the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBDCE) Deed of standing Offer DCON/11/21 for the provision of identity management services. These services can be accessed by agencies subject to the operation of the Financial Management and Accountability Act (1997); and DBCDE’s portfolio agencies subject to operation of the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act (1997). Canberra and Goulburn Catholic Education Office to implement an Empower HR provisioning system
The Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Catholic Education Office has chosen UNIFY to design and implement an Identity Management (IdM) solution based upon Empower HR, Active Directory and eDirectory using FIM as the IdM platform. This foundation will provide the platform to build upon and extend as part of their Identity Management strategic roadmap.
Extending from Eden on the south coast, to Crookwell in the North, through to the western point of Lake Cargelligo, the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn covers both the ACT and NSW.
There are 56 system schools in the Archdiocese comprising 4 secondary colleges, 5 central schools and 19 primary schools in NSW: 4 secondary schools, 24 primary schools and 2 Early Learning Centres in the ACT. Additionally, there are 3 Congregational schools located in the ACT.
This school system educates over 20,000 children and employs over 1300 teachers and a Catholic Education Office of approximately 80 staff members who support these schools

Paul Barratt has joined UNIFY as a global Microsoft IAM specialist from the Oxford Computer Group in the UK and has relocated to Australia. Shane Day has moved from Product Group Manager to head up UNIFY’s Professional Services Group. Peter Wass has rejoined UNIFY as the senior IAM specialist in the ACT, Eddie Kirkman has joined UNIFY in Brisbane as a senior IAM specialist after a long career at Novell, and Doug Stevenson has been assigned to develop UNIFY's Health Practice.

ACT Health selects UNIFY to define its IAM Business Requirements
ACT Health has selected UNIFY to develop, define and document its e-Health business requirements and use cases for IAM. In 2009, ACT Health received funding to invest in e-Health capacity and ICT infrastructure under the Health-e Future Program, thereby enabling ACT Health to provide modern, integrated healthcare services to meet future growth in demand. Subsequently, the Digital Health Environment (DHE) Technology Strategy was developed in 2010 which identified the requirement for IAM to provide a building block for future projects and systems. ACT Health supports a population of approximately 550,000 people and aims to deliver the best possible healthcare and health-related services in Australia, through its public hospitals - Calvary Hospital and Canberra Hospital; Community Health; Mental Health ACT; Capital Region Cancer Service; Aged Care and Rehabilitation Service and Population Health, including the Health Protection Service.

UNIFY releases Identity Broker for IBM Tivoli Access Manager
UNIFY Solutions has released Identity Broker for IBM's Tivoli Access Manager to provide tightly coupled integration and interaction between Tivoli Access Manager and any supported Identity Management Platform for the synchronization of identity information across the enterprise. It allows organisations with non IBM identity management platforms to easily select and integrate Tivoli Access Manager.
This Identity Broker is built from the ground up to use a combination of LDAP for speed of reconciliation, and the Tivoli Access Manager APIs for compliance with the business rules built into the Tivoli Access Manager product. This combination allows for integration in very large enterprises while maintaining the flexibility that is also present within the Tivoli Access Manager product for customization.
Architecturally the products can co-exist in a single network, or deployed securely across several domains, or even the internet.

Brisbane Catholic Education Implements Talent2 Provisioning System incorporating eMinerva
Brisbane Catholic Education has successfully implemented the foundation phase of its Identity Management Project, allowing for data synchronisation between Talent2 HRIS, Microsoft Active Directory and MXL eMinerva using Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager 2007 as its identity engine. Utilising UNIFY’s Identity Broker and Event Broker products, BCE is now able to realise the benefits of automatic provisioning, management and termination of teachers and staff in Active Directory and their school management system (eMinerva). Using the Talent2 HR system as the authoritative source for all Identity information, the solution also manages Active Directory security group membership based on HR data. Brisbane Catholic Education is a learning community of all involved in diocesan Catholic schools and the staff of the Brisbane Catholic Education Centre. With over 137 schools, Brisbane Catholic Education aims to provide quality teaching and learning outcomes for Prep to Year 12 students.

Tattersalls has selected UNIFY Solutions to implement a provisioning system using Frontier Software’s chris²¹ and Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM) 2007 as key components. The system will provide data synchronization of multiple AD stores into one chris²¹ HR System.

Chris Cox joins UNIFY to develop its APAC Training Academy and Microsoft Identity Management Centre of Excellence
UNIFY Managing Director Mark Goodall today announced the appointment of Chris Cox from the Oxford Computer Group to develop UNIFY’s IdM Training Academy and to provide mentoring for UNIFY customers across the region. Chris brings authoritative skills in ILM, ADAM/AD LDS, Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) and Live@Edu (Outlook Live) technologies. With the Oxford Computer Group, Chris was responsible for writing, and delivering technical training in IAM for engineers in large global corporations; delivering pre-release ILM2 (FIM) courses for Microsoft throughout the world; and deploying ILM for Live@Edu to universities and colleges in the UK and abroad. Chris also has a very strong background in Active Directory to complement his Identity Management profile. Chris will assist UNIFY customers with advice ranging from the strategies to take with Microsoft products through to the training of their staff on the platforms they have chosen.
