At this stage, these product solutions complement our services business. Increasingly though, UNIFY is building an ecosystem of partners who can deliver comprehensive provisioning solutions including our products where relevant.

Identity Broker Series

UNIFY Solutions has developed Identity Broker to solve the needs of medium and enterprise sized businesses that would like their HR application to be the Authoritative source for their employee and contractor Identity and Access Management.

Identity Broker assists your organisation to achieve automated, continuous security and compliance using HR as your Authoritative source for Identity and Role based provisioning. As the HR System is the natural source of identity data within an organization, the ability to rely on and manipulate this information is essential for your organization to implement Identity and Access Management.

Identity Broker provides you with a consistent Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) approach for enterprise wide provisioning based upon Microsoft's ILM/MIIS Identity Management platform, or other major vendor platforms.

Customers enjoy the following key benefits from using Identity Broker

  1. Lower costs of providing and terminating access for employees
  2. Quicker (real time) provisioning and de provisioning of staff leading to
    • Significantly increased security
    • Staff satisfaction
  3. Greatly improved compliance with government regulations and audit
  4. Increased accuracy and a “single version of the truth” regarding Identity information

Identity Broker is currently available for organisations using

  • SAP HCM
  • Frontier Software’s chris²¹
  • AURION HRMIS

Unify Connect Image01

UNIFYConnect enables the rapid development of Management Agents to manage complex interaction between applications, databases and other systems using ILM/MIIS.

UNIFYConnect provides you with a rapid Management Agent development architecture which enables a common and consistent approach for applications, databases and other services to interact in a bi-directional, event driven and real-time manner using Identity and Access Management (IAM) engines such as Microsoft’s Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM, incorporating MIIS). It simplifies inherent problems of modelling and connecting to applications, coding business rules for target systems, auditing the process as a component instead of recreating for every application, ensuring integrity of rules and information and future event management.

Key features of UNIFYConnect include

  1. Consistency of approach regardless of application or identity management platform
  2. Streamlining IAM solutions with its flexible approach thereby reducing complexity and ensuring a consistent framework
  3. Assisting continuous compliance through automated, real-time, event based bi-directional interaction
  4. Hierarchy Management
  5. Future and Past Event/Transaction Management
  6. Streamlined Auditing

Event Broker for MIIS and ILM

Event Broker for MIIS and ILM - UNIFYNow assists Microsoft’s Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM)/Integration Server (MIIS) 2003 and future ILM2 users to improve security, ensure continuous compliance, reduce administration costs and meet service levels by adding real time and event triggered functionality to ILM/MIIS.

The UNIFYNow Event Broker for MIIS/ILM allows your organisation to, on the one hand retain the integrity and reliability of an ILM based solution, whilst gaining event driven timing that provisions identities and information when changes occur, at the time they occur and only for the relevant changes. While the release of ILM2 will include its own real-time service, this is only for information or provisioning from ILM2 and will not provide automated, real-time provision to ILM2 based upon events in applications and services, in particular Authoritative sources. UNIFYNow for ILM2 will continue to provide this missing capability and facilitate end-to-end automated, real-time provisioning. Without UNIFYNow, ILM2 does not know of changes in applications and services at the time of change.

UNIFYNow is a robust, flexible and scalable real-time, event manager for MIIS. It manages the events involved in an ILM/MIIS based provisioning solution and triggers ILM/MIIS at appropriate event-driven points.

UNIFYNow allows organisations to retain the integrity and reliability of an ILM/MIIS based solution, whilst gaining event driven timing that provisions identities and information when changes occur, at the time they occur and only for the relevant changes.

UNIFYNow also extends ILM/MIIS to be a real-time, persistent platform ensuring that events are always processed and provisioned to the relevant application or service.

UNIFYNow has a comprehensive scheduling interface that simplifies and streamlines the management and design of an ILM/MIIS solution. Jobs can be scheduled in specific orders, or with specific dependencies and triggers. A job can include standard ILM/MIIS run profiles, command scripts, pre-processing code, and tasks such as clearing the run logs and events. Each job can have defined timeouts, actions depending on success or failure (outcomes based), and can jump to different jobs at the completion of a run.

Most MIIS based Identity Management solutions evolve to include a variety tasks and processes. UNIFYNow provides a single GUI interface to view, adjust and manage these tasks and reduce the overall complexity of MIIS management and design.

UNIFYNow remains the only available automated, real-time event manager for all ILM/MIIS interactions. We know that the future release of ILM2 will include its own real-time service. However, this is only for information or provisioning from ILM2 (exports) and will not provide automated, real-time provision to ILM2 based upon events in applications and services, in particular Authoritative sources. UNIFYNow for ILM2 will provide this missing capability and facilitate end-to-end automated, real-time provisioning. Without UNIFYNow, ILM2 will not know of changes in applications and services at the time of change.

Sharepoint MOSS xMA

Office SharePoint Server (MOSS/WSS) Extensible Management Agent (xMA) Suite for ILM - extending enterprise directory lifecycle management to incorporate SharePoint collections including User Profiles, WSS Lists and User Groups.

The UNIFY MOSS/WSS xMA (extensible management agent) suite comprises 3 separate xMA s to manage three key SharePoint data collections, specifically MOSS User Profiles (people directory), WSS Lists, and User Groups (site membership).

Use the

  • UNIFY MOSS User Profile xMA (extensible management agent) to turn the "My Site" feature into a true enterprise "White Pages" application which is no longer bound by your AD schema, and when coupled with the global profile admin function, allows a subset of User Profile attributes to be "authoritative" within the enterprise;
  • UNIFY WSS List xMA to provision and populate custom WSS lists synthesized from ILM, and extend this to automate custom workflows; and
  • UNIFY WSS User Group xMA to provision individual site access where group membership is not flexible or reliable enough to be applied.

Harness your Real Time ILM solution to unleash the true power of MOSS/WSS features such as workflow, audience targeting, search indexing.

Use the UNIFY MOSS User Profile xMA to enable your MOSS user profile store to participate in your ILM design on equal terms with other enterprise directories such as AD or your HR system. Turn the "My Site" feature into a true enterprise "White Pages" application which is no longer bound by your AD schema, thereby allowing you to synchronise your user profiles with data from more than one authoritative source. When coupled with the global profile admin function, this allows a subset of MOSS User Profile attributes to be "authoritative" within the enterprise (e.g. employee phone number).

Use the UNIFY WSS List xMA to provision and populate custom WSS lists synthesized from ILM, and extend this to automate custom workflows such as user account creation, or moderation of user self service (e.g. ensure only moderated changes are flowed back to ILM).

Use the UNIFY WSS User Group xMA to provision individual site access where group membership is not flexible or reliable enough to be applied.

Built using the ILM SDK, each MA in the UNIFY MOSS/WSS xMA suite supports all run profile operations, including full and delta imports (read), and export (including insert/update/delete) operations. Even with large user profile stores, full imports are executed quickly and efficiently. For User Profiles, the native MOSS 2007 UserProfileService.asmx web service is complemented with a custom UserProfileServiceEx.asmx web service to support deletions.

Implementing each of the variations of the UNIFY MOSS/WSS xMA s is a matter of matching the target collection with the appropriate configuration settings and schema mappings. Thereafter, any schema changes made post xMA implementation are not a problem, as the xMA schema is fully extensible within the ILM xMA properties wizard.
